Herniated Disc / Bulging Disc / Protruding Disc
A disc protrusion or bulge can occur anywhere along the length of the spinal column from the neck to the lower back. The condition may arise in the neck (cervical spine), back of chest (thoracic spine) or lower back (lumbar spine). Medical professionals always use this terminology to ensure strict accuracy of both description and communication and in order to avoid misinterpretation. Feb 11, · A protruding disc is a disc in the spine which has herniated, meaning that the soft material which is normally on the inside of the disc has pushed through a weak point in the connective tissue which normally surrounds the disc. A variety of symptoms can be associated with a protruding disc, including back pain, numbness, tingling, or a general change in sensations in the .
The rubbery disks that lie between the vertebrae in your spine consist of a soft center nucleus surrounded by a tougher exterior annulus. A herniated disk occurs when a portion protryding the nucleus pushes through a crack in the annulus. Symptoms may occur if the herniation compresses a nerve. A herniated disk refers to a problem with one of the rubbery cushions disks that sit between the individual bones vertebrae that stack to what does tbr stand for your spine.
A spinal disk has a soft, jellylike center nucleus encased in a tougher, rubbery exterior annulus. Sometimes called a slipped disk or a ruptured disk, a herniated disk occurs protguding some of the nucleus pushes out through a tear in the annulus. A herniated disk, which can occur in any part of the spine, can irritate a nearby nerve.
Depending on where the herniated disk is, it can result in pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg. Many people have no symptoms from a herniated disk. Surgery is usually not necessary to relieve the problem. Most herniated disks occur in the lower back, although they can also occur in the neck.
Signs and symptoms depend on where the disk is situated and whether the disk is pressing on a nerve. They usually affect one side of the body. You can have a herniated disk without symptoms.
You might not know you have it unless it shows up on a spinal image. Seek medical attention if your neck or back pain travels down your arm or leg, or if you also have numbness, tingling or weakness. Disk herniation is most often the result of a gradual, aging-related wear and tear called disk degeneration.
As you age, your disks become less flexible and more prone to tearing or rupturing with even a minor strain or twist. Most people can't pinpoint the cause of their herniated disk. Sometimes, using your back muscles instead of your leg and thigh muscles to lift heavy objects can lead to a herniated disk, as can twisting and turning while lifting. Rarely, a traumatic event such as a fall or a blow to the back is the what to do with a lemon. Just above your waist, your spinal cord ends.
What continues through the spinal canal is a group of long nerve roots that resemble a horse's tail cauda equina. Rarely, disk herniation can compress the entire spinal canal, including all the nerves of the didc equina.
Rarely, emergency surgery might be ks to avoid permanent weakness or paralysis. Herniated disk care at Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic does not endorse companies or protrudibg.

Disc protrusion or a bulging disc. The disc’s inner gel like centre pushes into its tough outer shell causing a bulge or protrusion of disc content beyond its normal confinement. This bulge can press against the spinal cord or nerve roots as they exit the spinal cord. Disc herniation (disc extrusion or . A main cause to these symptoms is a herniated, bulging or protruding disc, also sometimes referred to as a ruptured disc. The spine is made up of many vertebrae which are stacked upon one another, and in between each of these bones are discs. These discs are the spines shock absorbers. In simple terms, a disc bulge refers to an apparent generalized extension of disc tissues beyond the edges of the edge of vertebrae, usually less than 3mm. Bulge is a term for an image and can be a normal variant (usually at L5-S1).
Put simply, the spine is made up of individual vertebrae stacked on top of each other. The discs between the vertebrae, have a gel-like material inside called a nucleus pulposus. A great way to think of the discs is like that of a balloon filled with water, and these discs help resist compressive forces on the spine.
When a disc bulges the gel-like material inside of it gets pushed back towards the nerves and structures of the spine. As you can see a herniated disc might be worse.
Usually bulging disc can be resolved over time if managed well, whereas the herniated disc will just scar down since the annulus outer layer of disc has ruptured.

The full cobra pose creates even more spinal extension than half cobra helping push the nucleus jelly back towards the center and reduce bulging disc.
A solid core foundation helps provide stability which in turn prevents re-injury and further injury from occurring. This will help reset the spine into neutral position. Therefore this exercise is great at targeting those deep core muscles. Other forms of exercise that may help, that were not mentioned above include core strength, walking, pilates, and yoga.
