The Rapture of the Church

Jan 01, The rapture of the church is the event in which God snatches away all believers from the earth in order to make way for His righteous judgment to be poured out on the earth during the tribulation period. The rapture is described primarily in 1 Thessalonians 18 and 1 Corinthians This word is not in the English Bible, but has been used so widely that one of the definitions of rapture in Websters Third New International Dictionary Unabridged is: Christs raising up of His true church and its members to a realm above the earth where the whole company will enjoy celestial bliss with its Lord. The word raptured could well be used to translate the expression caught up of 1 .

This statement is the report of the committee to raptjre the rapture of the Church. Jesus taught that He will return to earth. He was careful to warn His disciples to be constantly prepared for this Matthew ; ; Mark ; Luke They understood that the present age will end with His coming Matthew The assurance of His return was one of the truths with which He comforted His followers before His death John3.

They declared it would be in the same manner as He went away Acts This clearly means His second coming will be literal, physical, and visible. The New Testament Epistles refer often to the Second Coming, and the theme of imminence runs through all ov passages of Scripture dealing with this subject. Though there would be a period of time between the first and second comings Lukethe whole body of teaching concerning the return of the Lord emphasizes that it will happen suddenly without warning; that believers should be in a state of continual readiness Philippians ; Hebrews ; James9; Revelation Believers in the early days of the Church lived in this state of expectancy 1 Corinthians ; 1 Thessalonians A comparison of passages of Scripture relating to the Second Coming shows tye some speak of a visible event seen by all mankind and involving the judgment of sinners.

Others describe a coming known only to believers and resulting in their deliverance from earth. The latter is referred to among evangelicals as the Rapture. Jesus said His coming will result in one individual being taken from a location while another is left. This indicates a sudden removal of believers from the earth with unbelievers left to face tribulation Matthew Jesus spoke of His return as a time when the nations raptude the earth shall mourn as they see Him Matthew In 1 Thessalonianshe considered a different aspect of the Second Coming.

This brief passage is the most direct and eapture teaching on the Rapture in the New Testament. It speaks only of believers, living and dead. Nothing is said about the wicked seeing Christ at this time. Paul described Jesus as coming in the air, but nothing is said about His feet touching the earth, as we are told elsewhere they will at His return Zechariah It is the moment when 1 John will be fulfilled, and we shall be like Him.

The latter verse states that the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip awayidentifying the source of the power that will remove believers from earth at the Rapture. It is a picture of the saints congregating around Christ at His coming for them.

Rspture supernatural removal of godly individuals from earth is not unknown in Scripture. The outstanding event in the life of Enoch was his miraculous disappearance from earth after years of walking with God Genesis Raputre author of Hebrews called this experience a translation, bypassing death Hebrews First Corinthians deals with the same event as 1 Thessalonians Here also Paul spoke of the changes that will take place in both living and dead believers at the Rapture.

He called this a mystery 1 Corinthiansa truth previously unrevealed but made known to him by the Rapturee Spirit. Passages which pertain to the Rapture describe the coming of the Lord for His people.

Passages which refer to the revelation of Christ describe the coming of the Lord with His saints. Colossians speaks of believers appearing with Christ at His coming. In 2 Thessalonians 2 Paul indicated certain things must take place before the Day of the Lord of which the Great Tribulation is a part can begin.

An individual called the man of sin Antichrist will appear. Only when the Church is removed from earth by the Rapture lf this man come forward publicly. In 1 Thessalonians 5, following the passage on the Rapture in chapter 4, Paul taught about the Day of the Lord. He warned of the destruction it will bring to the wicked vv.

He was quick to assure Christians that those who abide in Christ will not be overtaken by it v. It seems clear that he meant the deliverance of believers from the judgments of the Day of the Lord, including the Great Tribulation. Never are they taught to watch for the Great Tribulation or the appearance of Antichrist. To expect that such things must happen before the Rapture destroys the teaching of imminence with which the New Testament is replete.

When what is the rapture of the church signs of the end of the age are evident, they are to look up and lift up their heads in expectation of their redemption, not the Great Tribulation Luke Any teaching that certain events must transpire before the Rapture is out of harmony with the doctrine of imminence.

God did not send the Flood until Noah and his family were safe in the ark. He did not destroy Sodom until Lot was taken out. The weight of Scripture supports a pre-Tribulation Rapture. Wherever teaching about the Second Articles on how to deal with stress occurs in the New Testament, imminence is underscored.

To interpose other events before the Rapture does violence to such teaching. Download: The Rapture of the Church. Paul invokes the scenario as if they were familiar with it. If the exact details of the Eschaton were important, we would have them in the Bible.

We do not. So, what is the main thing we must believe and do? We must believe in the soon return of Jesus and we live every day with this conviction. The debate has caused rapturre of us to reject not only the Rapture of the Church but the whole prospect of the Rule of Christ over the earth.

The whole thing has become a metaphor for the church age. If so this is what racquet does tomas berdych use sorry Reign of Christ! Are preachers shying away from preaching the 2nd Coming? This must not happen. We need all four of our Cardinal Doctrines to be who are supposed to be in this world: 1 Jesus is Savior.

As Classical Pentecostals, our job is to believe and proclaim the whole biblical truth. We need not solve what looks like contradictions. What if the end comes js what is the rapture of the church an unprecedented and great slaughter of Christians, after a worldwide crucifixion of the body how to clean swedish finish floors Christ, in which after great sacrifice in imitation of her Lord she dies and rises from the ashes of her demise by the Spirit, and God is finally all in all because the cruciform pattern of raptire that governs the universe and holds all things together and gives all living things breath has been confirmed in a peculiar crucified and resurrected people what does besa mi culo mean Christ as her head?

It has been 41 years now since this doctrine was approved by the AoG, When I was 16 and still thought as a child I dropped out of school and started going from door to door warning people about the coming of the Lord.

I did this based upon messages by Evangelist Johnson in the CoG. How to get a skype number seems foolish now.

2 Rapture Scriptures

Sep 21, A: There are many Christians who believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ will be in two phases. First, He will come for believers, both living and dead, in the rapture (read 1 Thessalonians ). In this view, the rapturewhich is the transformation and catching up of all Christians, dead or alive, to meet Christ in the airwill be secret, for it will be unknown to the . Nov 14, This word is not in the English Bible, but has been used so widely that one of the definitions of rapture in Websters Third New International Dictionary Unabridged is: Christs raising up of His true church and its members to a realm above the earth where the whole company will enjoy celestial bliss with its Lord. The word raptured could well be used to translate the .

When Does the Rapture take place? Are You Ready for the Rapture? What does the Rapture mean? In short Rapture means to be Caught Up. The rapture is described primarily in 1 Thessalonians and 1 Corinthians God will resurrect all believers who have died, give them glorified bodies, and take them from the earth, along with all living believers, who will also be given glorified bodies at that time.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. The rapture will involve an instantaneous transformation of our bodies to fit us for eternity.

The rapture is to be distinguished from the second coming. The rapture of the church is a glorious event we should all be longing for. We will finally be free from sin. There is far too much debate over the meaning and scope of the rapture.

The Rapture comes next. It may be a warning that only some will recognize. Video: Get Ready! These are ten people that believe in Jesus. They had lamps, and their lamps were burning.

They went forth to meet the Bridegroom. All ten were waiting for the return of Jesus Christ to come for them. These had oil in their lamps, but they failed to take extra oil in their jars. The oil represents the Holy Spirit, which can be illustrated in the lamps that burn in the tabernacle and in the temple.

These were not prepared to wait a long, long time for their Bridegroom to come and take them. The wise had oil in their lamps and also took additional oil in their jars. These were prepared to wait as long as it would take, till the Bridegroom would come and take them away. They knew what to expect. They made the needed preparations. They were prepared to replenish their lamps as needed.

The foolish did not prepare. They did not know what to expect. They were not prepared for the long wait and all that might go along with it. Their root withered away. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep-NIV. The Bridegroom was a long time in coming, and, indeed, the church has now been waiting for the Bridegroom for nearly years. We see pictured here the church age that will see the return of Jesus to take His bride away.

All ten virgins became tired and fell asleep. Here is the warning that the Bridegroom is about to arrive. Here is the warning that the Rapture is about to happen. From this warning, we may note, that just prior to the Rapture actually happening, there will be some kind of a cry, or a warning, so that all the virgins will know the time, for the Bridegroom to carry His bride away, is at hand. The cry was made at midnight. Some might consider this indicates the cry just before the Rapture may happen at midnight, Israeli time.

When the bridegroom in the Jewish marriage of olden times was returning for his bride, a shout would let her know that he was arriving. He had made a contract for her some time before. He had then gone away to prepare a place for her. Once his father approved the bridal chamber, he would then give permission to go and fetch his bride, who had been patiently waiting for him. Now the bridegroom anxiously returns for her. She has made herself ready. She always kept oil in her lamp, for she was never quite sure when her bridegroom would return.

It might be at night, so she had to be ready. It appears up to this time that either the foolish virgins did not realize their lamps had gone out, or they just did not care, as the bridegroom tarried.

Here is a picture of five foolish Christians. They believed in Jesus. Their lamp was burning. They had oil. They were a light for Jesus, but, as time passed, they ran out of oil. As time passed, their lamps faded and then went out. We might say that in the time of testing, they fell away. Perhaps, they became lukewarm as a result of all the deceptive, lukewarm preaching.

The foolish virgins, or foolish Christians, now realize that their lamp went out. The foolish virgins still believed in Jesus, but their flame had become cold. Their love for Jesus had become cold. Though they did believe in the Rapture, it caught them by surprise. They realized they were not ready to meet Jesus. He had come as a thief in the night to them. They were not truly expecting in their heart that He would come when He did.

They were unprepared. The wise virgins, even though they had fallen asleep, still had oil in reserve. Their lamps, or light for Jesus, did not go out. It is interesting to note, the wise virgins thought that they did not have enough oil for both themselves and the foolish virgins. They told the foolish virgins to go to them that sell.

Was the supply of oil that the wise virgins had running low in this lukewarm age of falling away? Did the foolish virgins go to their preacher to get oil? The Holy Spirit cannot be shared. The Holy Spirit regenerates each person individually. These Christians were not ready. Note, there is no indication in this parable of a great revival waking up the church before the Rapture. The foolish virgins depart to go buy more oil.

They were blind. And while they were gone, Jesus came. All those wise Christians that were ready, whose lamps had not gone out, were raptured and went to the marriage. Now the foolish virgins return. To whom had they gone? They could not have gone to born-again preachers, as the born-again preachers would have been raptured.

They seemingly went to the blind leaders of the blind. Apparently, they could not recognize the difference. It appears, they now think they got saved.

We appear to have a picture of five foolish Christians that are terrified. They recognized that the Rapture had happened. They recognized that they had been left behind. We might also conclude from this that once the cry is made, just before the Rapture occurs, from that point on, no one will get saved.

None of the foolish virgins were able to get saved, even though they tried. There are many foolish virgins in this last generation that will be left behind when the Rapture comes. Jesus continues in His message to the five foolish virgins whose lamps went out. They do not understand. They are not ready. They do not know the day or hour. Clearly, this message is to all the foolish virgins to watch and be ready; then they should understand.

There is a clear message here. A person can believe on Jesus. They can believe that the Rapture will come.
